As there are many requests asking: "how to" hereby a nice old Yamaha Special Tools booklet from 1968, so exactly 40 years old.
I have tried to make the pages good enough to view "on screen", but that was difficult so therefore all pages can been seen "crosswise" with the same size when you "click" them. 1. Coverpage 2. Introduction 4. Where to use special tools 1# 5. Where to use special tools 2# 6. Exhaust pipe, flywheel magneto tool 1# 8. Clutch and flywheel magneto holding tool 3# 10. Primary drive gear puller, kick spring tool 5# 12. Crankcase disassembling tool 7# 13. Crankshaft setting tool 8# 14. Crankshaft separatin/assembly 1# 15. Crankshaft separating/assembly 2# 16. Crankshaft separating/assembly 3# 17. Crankshaft separating/assembly 4# 18. Meter gear, steering nut tools 19. Front fork tools 23. Back page Several of these tools can be made quite easily. I also made (with some help) some of the tools which were not available at that time. Crankshaft pullers can be made according to the motorcycles you have (crankshaft dimension/thread). This one has been made for the DS6
Crankshaft bolt, special tool
The small bolt with the threaded pin is used on the ignitionside when the second crankcase half is carefully fitted.
This is how the crankshaft mounting starts, always fitting on the primary drive side !!
Once the crankshaft is fitted properly in the first crankcase half, the rest is a piece of cake.....
