Yamaha RD05/A, 1965-1968, the fabulous V-four 250 ccm.

The RD05/A V-4 cylinder250 ccm factory racer was Yamaha's answer on the Honda six cylinder 250 ccm.

The bikes appeared for the first time in Japan in the autumn of 1964 on the Yamaha Fukuroi testtrack.

With a bore x stroke of 44 x 41 mm (249,4 ccm) this resulted in 60/65 PS/13.000/13.500 rpm. The gearbox had 8 speeds, tyres were 3.00-18 front and 3.25-18 rear and weight was approx. 115 kg. Topspeed was an incredible 245 km/h. Weight was also 115 kg, the same as the RD56! In the course of the development the power went up to 72 PS at 14.000 rpm for tha latest 1968 version.
