Welcome to Yamaha Classic Motorcycles

Welcome to 'www.classicyams.com', the site dedicated to all classic YAMAHA racers and historic YAMAHA street/off-road bikes. This site is dedicated to the famous 2-strokes but the equally famous 4-strokes are also not forgotten!

Sitedesign is by Remko Visser, my successor at Yamaha Motor Europe, as a present when I retired from the company that touched my heart! You can view most pictures in large formate, just "click" them. Ludy Beumer

Today, July 2008, I can tell you that classicyams already had more than 20.000 visits from 69 (!) countries, for which I thank you all very much. The USA is number 1# with 26%, followed by the Netherlands U.K. Germany Australia Canada France Sweden Italy and Japan. Quite amazingly, from the USA I have readers from 49 States, only in Mississippi there are no Yamaha fans! (How come, guys?)

Week 22: Several people wanted to know some details of the 1987-1989 TZR250 F111 Cup machine. Here is the first part of the story. Another old (1960) General Brochure with models as the SC1 scooter and the MF1 moped. What are the differences between the YDS3, the YM1 and the YM2 ? Many Collectors wonder. More on the "racing" TZR250 cup bike. Yamaha International early service news, fuel supply and CHECK YOUR GEARBOX OIL, VERY IMPORTANT!

Week 23: FIRST PART OF A SUPER STORY ABOUT THE RAREST OF ALL YAMAHA MOTORCYCLES, THE FUMIO ITO CATALINA GP BIKE !!!!!!! As you request some more details on the GEARBOX OIL LEVEL PROBLEM, here a few more tips and pictures. In the early 1960's Yamaha used a "sliding throttle" mechanism. Design of Yamaha's first Moped, the MF1.

Week 24: Design of the YG1 and many other small models which contributed much to Yamaha's reputation. Yamaha TZ350G maintenance, fit a later-type water temperature gauge.

Week 25: As I was shocked with the worn TZ250J cylinders and pistons I decided to check the TZ350G as well, remove the radiator. First design sketches of the "7-bone" frame models. And a YM2C (Scrambler) brochure. The TZ350G cylinder is removed and shows its condition (not so good!). Building-up the Yamaha TZ350G went quicker than I expected, look over my shoulder how far I got today! 15 more pages of pictures.

Week 26: A good Yamaha picture of the TR1 1967 prototype racer for Daytona. Did you know that Yamaha built rotary-valve YDS5 and YR1 prototypes following Phil Read's success in the World Championship with the Yamaha RD56? Some happy guy acquired "King Kenny Robert's" Yamaha TZ250 '74-'75 bike! Re-fitting old Yamaha carburetor manifold rubbers is tricky, they get hard !

Week 27: THE VERY RARE FUMIO ITO CATALINA GP BIKE RESTORATION GOES ON AND ON, 2 MORE GREAT PICTURES !! And Valentino Rossi will be a Classic Yamaha rider one day........!

Ich kann E-Mail auf Deutsch beantworten! Je peut repondre a votre E-Mail en Francais!
