any idea the correct replacement size.currently got one stuck to cylinder wall.was lettin it soak in brake fluid but i smacked it past the exhaust and carb ports.not sure what is best solution for removing it.any ideas?
Try first to find replacementsparts before going any further. As those pistons were bad anyway, I rebuild the old motors with DT125R conrods and DS7 pistons (and a 3mm extra aluminium cylinder _base_ gasket as the conrods are longer) They run very well.. You can have the partnumbers if you like! In a case like this the safest way is to bore out the pistons as with a re-bore. Ludy Beumer
thank you so much for your much appreciated advice.i will follow your recomendations. would greatly appreciate the parts number so i can look them up on the web. i live in the usa.
No, everything is different in size. Crankcases, studbolts, etc. You can swap DS7/R5 parts with RD250/350 (but not RD400 as it has a long stroke crank). You can only use the pistons/rings. But who wants used pistons when you are restroring a bike? Normally it never functions well.
