Yamaha YM2C of Craig Ridlen

Last week Craig Ridlen from California USA, send me this picture of his lovely (and rare) Yamaha YM2C Scrambler.

Although many people disagree it remains a fact that Yamaha was the first Japanese manufacturer who recognized the potential of "off-road" riding with numerous kits which were sold mainly in the USA for converting nearly all bikes to some competition "dirt" specification. The YM2C is an excellent example of this first generation of "over the counter" trail bikes. There was however, already a YDS3C as well prior to this model.

I do like them very much, maybe also because these models were never sold in Europe. However Mitsui Germany imported a few YDS3C's and the first Swedish Yamaha Importer "Svenska Cykelfabriken" sold the AS1C and AS2C machines, I forgot this but Peter Abelmann from Germany quickly spotted this error!
