Yamaha YM1 1966 of John LeBlanc

Over the weekend John LeBlanc from California sent these pictures of his very nice 1966 Yamaha YM1 305 cc, the "big-bore" version of the YDS3.

Here follows John's story:

I've attached several photos of my 1966 Yamaha YM1. There's not much to say about the restoration except that I didn't do it myself! Damon Graddy of Calabasas, California, restored the bike for me last year. Damon specializes in restoring classic Yamahas, mostly YDS3 and YM1 (http://www.vintage2strokes.com/). As you can see he did a beautiful job on the bike. The goal when restoring the bike was to have a very nice rider that I could take to shows if I felt like, but I was mostly concerned about having a functional, rideable bike. The bike features a new old stock speedometer and wiring harness for the bike. It was nice to get a new speedometer assembly so the bike could start its new life at 0 miles again! Damon paints the bikes himself and also rebuilds the engines, transmissions and any other chassis parts that need renewing. I believe he sub-contracts the seats and re-chroming. Needless to say, I'm very pleased with the bike and I like having a piece of Yamaha history in my garage. I hope you enjoy my little story about the bike and the attached photos.

I do believe we have to congratulate John with this lovely bike. It looks so good that it really must be a pleasure to ride in the California sunshine!
