| Yamaha YL-1 of Jeff Bonebrake |
|
Jeff Bonebrake from North Dakota, USA, suddenly found a Yamaha YL1, hidden in a (luckily) heated garage for 30 years! Jeff Bonebrake tells me: “Ludy, here’s a few pictures of my 1966 YL1. The first photo is what it looked like after 30 years of sitting inside a heated storage garage. The next photo’s are after the clean up was done. All chrome and paint is original except for black paint. I purchased a new seat cover from a place on EBay, it came from Thailand, and fit very nice and looks like original. It runs perfectly, but can’t ride yet due to 4 feet of snow and -10 to -30 degree weather. I’ll send you some other pictures when I get a few more parts and finish. 95% complete.
As you can see Americans mainly purchased motorcycles for fun. Look at the mileage! In Europe we rode these little bikes till the pistons started melting, therefore there are so few left. Jeff is a lucky guy!
Jeff did already a lot of work to the YL1, it is nearly complete.
More pictures will follow but as you can read he has too much snow now. That is too much for the little lady!
