Warren Warner, who is always on the hunt for rare racers (see his YZ608 story) recently found one of the very rare Ascot Scramblers. This was a "kitted" track racer.

Nearly all these machines were destroyed during their "professional" life.

The Ascot Scrambler was based upon the Yamaha YDS2 and fitted with special parts for off-road use. This one has a later engine (or only clutch cover from the YDS3) and an earlier fuel tank (YDS1). But it is a good start for a classic racer.
