Leo Commu was a very talented Dutch rider at the end of the 1960's. Apart from being a good rider, he was also a very skilful mechanic and builder. Here are the pictures from his 1971 Yamaha TD2 "Special".

The Yamaha TR2 production racer was the machine all private racing riders were waiting for. Fast enough to compete with nearly all factory bikes of that time, it was the machine to have in 1969 and later of course! And it really came with a kickstarter as you can see....!

A very nice movie made with an on-board camera on a Yamaha TZ350 during an ICGP event in the Netherlands last year. Move your volume button to the right and let everyone enjoy two-stroke noise !!!!! A good start of the New Year !!!!

I am not doing nothing in the Winter and the Yamaha MF1 slowly gets together more or less. The 3rd series of pictures more or less complete the job on the frame/cycle parts.

These are pictures of the very first Yamaha TD1B which "landed"in the Netherlands. The bike got a hard life as it was immediately modified by Cees van Dongen, one of the best Dutch riders of that period. Details from TD1B first, second and final version.

As you all know, the Yamaha TD1B was followed by the TD1C, a much improved model, based on the DS5-DS6 engine layout. Gone was the erratic clutch on the crankshaft that gave so much trouble. The machine was proudly shown on the Amsterdam Show in early 1968.

Peter Abelmann from Germany, who has one of the rare Yamaha YDS-1 machines himself, sent this 1959 Japanese magazine and brochure about the blue Yamaha YDS-1 Prototype, which appeared in the story about the "YDS-Club" in Japan. The testriders in those days were even more daring than today's Moto GP riders!!!
